Letters of Recommendation

Letters of Recommendation are regularly requested by colleges/universities as well as special summer educational programs. Students are encouraged to give teachers or counselors 4 weeks notice from the application’s deadline.

Students are encouraged to provide teachers and counselors with an overview of their accomplishments as well as what strengths and goals the student would want the recommender to highlight.

What Universities Usually Require Letters of Rec

For CSU and UC Universities - Typically these universities do not ask for a letter of recommendation.

For Private Colleges and Out-of-State Universities/ - Check each campus to see if a letter of recommendation is needed.

Letters of recommendation will be sent typically through the Common Application App, an email or application portal to the campus provided by the student.
